Registrations for all events are non-transferable and non-refundable. Online registration closes Tuesday, April 14th at midnight.
THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION! Last Chance to register for the Marathon, Half Marathon, Bike Tour or 5K is at the Quality of Life Expo on Thursday, April 16th and Friday, April 17th, 2009.
5. Am I allowed to use my MP3 player during the race? For the safety of all on the course, we strongly recommend you do not use portable music devices on the course.

9. What is the host hotel's contact info: The Marriott City Center is the Official Hotel of the 2009 Salt Lake City Marathon. 10. Are Wheelchair/Hand Cycles and Walkers permitted? Yes. Separate Wheelchair division. Race-walkers are part of the Marathon and Half Marathon. Wheelchairs and Hand Cycles (marathon only) will begin the course 6:55 AM.
11. What are the time limits to complete Marathon: Streets will re-open approximately 6 hours from the marathon start time, allowing participants 6 hours to complete the 26.2 mile course. All Marathon & Half Marathon finishers will receive a finisher time and a medal. All participants receive a participant shirt, goodie bag and a trip through the Refreshment Area at the Finish Line Festival.

Are there any Parking locations and restrictions/pre and post race: There are plenty of parking lots and meters available at and around The Gateway for race participants, volunteers and spectators on race day and meters on Saturday are Free. 13. Is there a finishers' recognition: Finishers of the Marathon and Half Marathon receive: A medal, picture proof and a trip through the Refreshment Area.
Finishers of the 5k receive picture proof and a trip through the Refreshment Area.
Finishers of the Salt Lake City Bike Tour receive a trip through the Refreshment area and a medal (there is no timing of the Bike Tour).
14. Is the Marathon & Half Marathon course hilly? The first nine miles of the course are mostly downhill. The rest of the course has mild upgrades and slight down hills.
15. Is the course a Boston Qualifier? Yes, we are certified by the USA Track & Field Association. As well, we are a fast course, with the first 9 miles being a downhill grade, and then finishing with a rather flat stretch in the last 17 miles, with only a few mild grades up and then back down.
16. What type of race day transportation is offered? For 5K participants, shuttles going to the 5K start at Liberty Park are available starting at 5:00am. They will depart from the Gateway on the corner of 400 West and South Temple, where plenty of parking is available. Each participant will receive a shuttle schedule at the Quality of Life Expo which includes your designated time of departure.
Your departure time will be determined by your bib number. By following your designated time you will guarantee that you’ll get to the starting line on time. To assure an on time start, don’t wait until the last minute to board.
For Marathoners and Half Marathoners, UTA TRAX will provide free transportation to all Salt Lake City Marathon & Half Marathon participants beginning at 4:30am at the Gateway/Energy Solutions Arena stop and all along the TRAX University Line. Each TRAX train is approximately 21 minutes to the starting line. Participants must show their race bib to board free.
17. How many aid stations and what type of fluid replacements are offered? There will be Water & Gatorade Endurance Formula at each of the 16 Aid Stations, as well as at the start line and post-finish area. There are 14- Marathon, 7- Half Marathon & 2- 5K aid stations.
First aid: Located at all 16 stations on course, and at the finish line and Finish Line Festival.
18. Are there any recommended viewing locations? Celebrations Locations are located all along the course (See Celebration Locations). Or, feel free to scream and cheer out in front of your home and in your neighborhood.
19. What is the expected number of spectators: We project that over 25,000 people will turn out to watch the Salt Lake City Marathon.
20. Are the any post-race medical attention/massage therapy and locations? There will be Medical Support at the Start, Finish, and at every aid station along the course. The Medical Tent is located at the Finish line at the Gateway and there will be one in the Finish Line Festival Area.
Over 40 Massage Therapists will be located at the Finish Line Festival to assist participants to help relax & loosen up tight muscles.

22. If a participant is unable to pick up their goodie bag at the Quality of Life Expo, can someone else pick it up for them? Yes, they will need to bring a copy of the participant’s photo ID and a note signed by the individual authorizing the pick up.
23. Is there an inline skate event? No.
24. Is there an early start for walkers or race walkers of the Marathon or the Half Marathon? Yes, for MARATHON ONLY. Early start participants MUST identify themselves by selecting the "Early start" question on the registration form when registering. Only participants who have registered as an early start participant prior to race day will be allowed to start early on race day.
Sag Wagons will patrol the route providing support to these participants. We also suggest that walkers and slower participants consider using a fanny pack that accommodates a water bottle and snacks.
If you plan on participating at a 16 minute pace per mile or slower, please be aware that our permit dictates that the streets that comprise the Marathon route are re-opened to vehicular traffic at 6 hours from the start of the marathon.
Street cleaning trucks precede the streets re-opening and you will be required to move to the curb lane and/or sidewalk at that time.
25. What kind of food/drinks are at the finish line? Where is the Finish Line Festival? There will be water and Gatorade Endurance Formula and other food and drink for replenishment at the finish line.
The Refreshment Area and Finish Line Festival will be held at the north end of the Gateway. There will be food, drink, booths and entertainment provided.
26. Will portable bathrooms be on the course? Yes, at the Start line, at all 16 aid stations and at the finish line.
27. Will Gear Check be available? Yes. The gear check area will be located at the Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K starts. Participants will place their gear in a bag that will be provided at the Starting Lines and identified with their bib #.
Gear bags will be transported to the finish line area and may be picked up in the Union Pacific Depot Grand Hall, which is located east of the Olympic Fountain between Thaifoon and Urban Outfitters.
28. Are roller-skates, inline skates, bikes or carriages of any kind allowed to participate in the Marathon? No, if you are caught on the Marathon course with any of these, you will be directed off of the route.
29. Can I run the Marathon course without registering? NO. All runners without Salt Lake City Marathon bibs will be directed off the course immediately.
30. How do I get to the course on public transportation? You can take TRAX from the Gateway stop directly to the University of Utah (Start Line) for Free, courtesy of UTA. Go online at www.uta.com for bus schedule details.
31. Are there Timing Chip & Race Numbers? All official entrants will receive a timing chip (except bike tour and kids marathon), along with their race bib number at the Quality of Life Expo. Failure to return the timing chip will result in a $20 replacement fee.
